The early backcountry hunts kickoff our fall as we head to the high mountain basins to chase velvet covered antlers that mule deer are still packing around in August. Many western states offer these kind of early archery hunts to get your seasons started. 

Physically these hunts are more demanding as we pack in our camp and food on our packs and have to ration water supplies in the later summer heat.
